PERSPECTIVE

Will Ad agencies die ❓

· Published · Originally on Medium ↗

No. But they will transform.

In a few years, we probably won’t even use the word “agency.”
There will always be room for talent in ad industry. But,
they just need to learn how to integrate technology into their work.

Forrester illustration of a small agency building beside a much larger block labelled media, AI and tech, with three figures looking up at it.

📉 By 2026, agencies will lose around 15% of their people.
💰 One out of every three media dollars will move to the “principal media” model.
📊 85% of marketers are already reviewing their agency partnerships.
🎬 Creative agencies and production houses are blending into creative studios.
Smaller teams. Faster work. No man-hour talk, just results.

🌟 The rise of In-House
According to the AAA (American Academy of Advertising),
60% of brands now run their advertising and media in-house.
The pandemic sparked the in-house boom, and AI is accelerating it.

⚡ On the media side, change is even faster.
Google, Meta, TikTok, and retail networks already control the flow.
Any media agency without its own tech or without a strong AI platform will fade out soon.

The next generation of agencies won’t sell campaigns.
They’ll sell systems that think. 🤖
